GENERAL INFORMATION

THE ELEMENTARY CHECKS

Before checks be convinced that the car is filled with enough fuel.

If the car is equipped with system of coding of start of the engine (immobilizer), then start the engine other keys from a set. If the engine is started, then breakage of the ignition key is the reason. Check a key in service of car service.

If by means of other keys it is not possible to start the engine, then address to service of car service as the refusal of anticreeping system is possible.

The starter does not rotate the engine, or rotates poorly

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check a condition of plugs of power cables, reliability of their fastening.

2. If a condition of plugs satisfactory, then include internal lighting. If lamps do not burn, or become dim (or die away) at inclusion of a starter, then the battery is discharged. In this case start the engine from the additional battery or if the car is equipped with the manual transmission and there is no catalytic converter, the engine is allowed to be started pushing of the car. It is not possible to start the diesel engine pushing at strongly discharged battery as a rule.

3. If lamps do not die away, but the engine is not started, then adjustment of the engine or repair is necessary. In this case ask in service of car service for the qualified help.

Prevention

It is forbidden to start the engine towage. Otherwise after start of the engine collision is possible. Engines of models 4E-FE, 4A-FE, 7A-FE cannot also be started pushing. Converter can be heated and become a cause of the fire.

The starter rotates the engine with a normal speed, but the engine is not started

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Petrol engines

1. Be convinced of reliability of fastening of all demountable connections of conducting (especially sockets on the distributor and fastening of wires to spark plugs).

2. If connections in satisfactory condition, then reenrichment of mix and filling of cylinders with gasoline is a cause of failure at start-up. In this case be guided by subsection 1.35.1.

Diesel engines

3. If you tried to start the engine at an empty tank, then it is required to remove air from fuel system (see subsection 1.35.2).

4. If air is removed, but the engine is not started, then repair is necessary. In this case ask in service of car service for the qualified help.
